Pocket Full of Rain
Jason

Pocket Full of Rain is a compilation of Norwegian cartoonist Jason’s early works. If you’re familiar with Jason, you’ll notice he barely uses the anthropomorphic characters he is recognized for; instead the characters are mostly humans (although the occasional B-movie monster is also seen).
The stories range from heavy in emotion to bizarre while he takes you on a sort of introspective journey into his mind. Personally, what I loved about this book is how real the conversations between characters felt, and how the silence in many of the strips imply so much and really make you feel as a candid observer peeking into this world. Jason’s style is simple and wonderful to look at and, although the book is in black and white, at the end there are some full page color prints of some of Jason’s paintings.

READ Posters at the Library
Posted by Carter on September 10, 2009
Five lucky College RAs were picked to be on the newest set of Library READ posters. The posters are modeled after the successful series from the American Libraries Association (ALA), which highlights athletes, writers, entertainers, and politicians along with their favorite books. Stop by the library to see these posters in person!
- As a Computer Animator, Tim Palmer likes the DVDs in the Library. He also favors childhood Dr. Seuss books, as well as contemporary fiction & non-fiction.
- Robert Showalter appreciates many different types of books from the library, including technical manuals.
- As a Computer Animation student, Betsy Bauer is inspired by books about 3D movie art.
- Alex Terry chose to levitate three Harry Potter novels in his poster.
- Jen DeCarlo is inspired by the Library’s children’s illustration books.
If you were on a READ poster, which books, DVDs, and magazines would you choose?
